Answer HQ Update #6: Smarter Boosts, Assistant Customization, Chat API, and More

⚡Boost upgrade: Smoother hand-offs to your team
Sometimes, your customers still need to talk to a human – and we’re happy to share that we've just made doing so easier.
With the latest update to our "Talk to a Human" Boost, your assistant can now guide customers step by step through a short Contact Us form, right inside the chat. No extra clicks. No pop-ups. And better yet, this streamlined workflow is now the default for all new Boosts going forward.
This update has been automatically rolled out to all Pro and Enterprise plan customers. If you’re currently on a Basic plan but interested in Boosts, let’s talk.
👌 Make it yours: Customize your assistant’s personality
You can now further fine-tune your Answer HQ assistant’s personality by customizing both its tone and behavior to deliver more tailored customer experiences.
Think of Tone as your assistant’s general temperament. A clear, descriptive tone helps your assistant match your brand’s voice and personality with every interaction. Behavior controls how your assistant acts in specific situations. For example, you can set it to always ask for an order number before helping with shipping questions.

To adjust Tone and Behavior, log in to your Answer HQ account. Click the Customize dropdown in the left navigation, then select Personality.
A quick note: These Personality settings are different from the Write or Paste Text feature, which lets you add company-specific information (like pricing or current promos) for your assistant to use in responses, without showing that content directly to customers.
🐍 NEW! Chat API for apps (in beta)
The Answer HQ Chat API (beta) makes it easy to bring your AI assistant into your own applications; you are no longer just limited to using Answer HQ as a widget on your website!
This API supports streaming responses, conversation context, session management, and metadata tracking, so your assistant feels just as smart and seamless in your app as it does on your site.

One Answer HQ customer already using the API to power a Discord bot reports handling over 100 customer questions every day – right inside their server.
The Chat API is available to all Pro plans and above. Explore the API here, then reach out to get your API key. (Self-service access is coming soon!).
👀 See your website import in action
During onboarding, the Answer HQ website import progress tracker now shows more detail, separating the exploration phase (where we find all the pages on your site) from the import phase (where we pull in each page and add it to your Answer HQ vault).
This added visibility makes it easier to understand what’s happening, and helps you better track progress, especially when importing from large websites.
